Please complete the registration form attached https://form.jotform.com/221874579476170 if you desire to participate in this event.
We will provide a table and chairs (and electricity, if it was indicated on the registration form). I highly recommend bringing a table covering.
If you need overnight accommodations, the Union has a hotel, which is reasonable in price. Call 309-298-1941 for reservations. This link will take you to the other hotels in Macomb, https://www.makeitmacomb.com/ as well as dining options in the area.
The Union has a small food court. There is also a cafe called Dividends that offers sandwiches, salads, and specialty coffee drinks in Stipes Hall, a short walk away from the Union. While here be sure to visit our state-of-the-art crime laboratory and our operational EOC.
Additionally, I wanted to let your agency know that the School of LEJA now also offers two new Post Baccalaureate Certificates in addition to our fully online Master’s degree in Public Safety Administration. These new PBC’s are entitled:
§ Community Engagement and Public Safety Leadership; and
§ Emergency Management
We created the Community Engagement and Public Safety Leadership PBC to assist in offering solutions, guidelines, and effective responses to legislative and society’s call for reforms in the selection and training of police officers, and in the practice and policy guiding the behavior of public safety organizations. Media reports have highlighted the often-strained relationship between public safety officials and the communities they serve, especially communities of color. Hence the School of LEJA has developed a post baccalaureate certificate program (PBC) with its primary objective to develop and improve the leadership and engagement skills of public servants working in, or seeking, positions in public safety administration. Courses will include content that develops the communication and leadership skills necessary to build bridges between groups that mistrust each other and to motivate change. Course content will also foster the development of personnel as it relates to competency, diversity, and disciplinary issues concerning the rights and responsibilities within a public safety context and best practices related to crisis intervention and de-escalation policies consistent with constitutional protections and public safety threats.
The new Emergency Management PBC was created to afford public safety practitioners with the education and knowledge on how to survive and work in a disaster zone. Additionally, the focus of the program is to provide professionals with an advance knowledge of emergency management organizational, planning, strategies, threat assessment, evaluation and leadership skills. As disasters (natural and manmade) continue to increase in numbers and intensity, it is critical that public safety responders know how to respond for their own safety and the safety of others. They also need to assess, predict, respond and mitigate the damage and develop and utilize an adaptive strategy for recovery. Our program addresses all of these competencies and more.
If you have any questions about the Career Fair or about either of the new fully online Post Baccalaureate Programs please do not hesitate to call or email me. You may also use my calendly app to set up a phone interview using this link. https://calendly.com/wiu-leja/phone-interview
Thank you for your interest in our Programs. I look forward to your attendance at the Career Fair. Stay safe, Jill
