Funeral Assistance Needed

Hello Chiefs,

I am assisting South Roxana FD organize the funeral for Chief Werner. At the moment, I am in desperate need of as many uniformed personnel as possible to offer time to stand as casket guard. We will start the guard @ 1700 hours, Thursday 7/8 and continue 24 hour guard until funeral services begin Saturday @ 1000 hours. I have every time slot still available within the allotted time frame.

Typically we will have guards stand for 20 minute time periods and rotate according to the number we have available at that time. I am requesting anyone able to assist to contact me directly via email @ efd1307@gmail.com with their name, phone number, and day/time of their availability. I will then reach out to confirm their time slot.

Chief Werner will be at Pitchford Funeral Home located @ 2555 Vaughn Rd; Wood River, IL 62095 from Thursday until Friday morning @ 0800. He will then be escorted to the Church of the Nazarene Theater located @ 500 N. Central Ave; Roxana, IL 62084 until 2200 hours. He will then be escorted back to Pitchford Funeral Home for the evening and then escorted once again back to the Nazarene Theater on Saturday morning @ 0700 hours until services begin @ 1000 hours.

To Whom It May Concern: It is with extreme regret and great sadness that the Village of South Roxana IL Fire Department announce the Line of Duty Death of their Fire Chief, William “Todd” Werner. Chief William “Todd” Werner, 48, suffered a cardiac arrest on the evening of June 27, 2021 shortly after returning from a fire department incident. Chief Werner succumb to his illness on July 1, 2021. Funeral arrangements for Chief Werner are as follows: Funeral visitation: Friday, July 9, 2021 2:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Roxana Church of the Nazarene Theater, located at 500 N. Central Ave; Roxana, IL 62084. Emergency uniformed personnel walk through will be July 9, 2021 at 7:00 pm. Walk through staging and line up for emergency personnel will begin at 6:00 pm at the Roxana Fire Department located at 310 N. Central Ave; Roxana, IL 62084. Due to space restrictions, please, little to no fire apparatus during visitation is requested if possible. All fire apparatus will be assigned to a staging area for the funeral procession on Saturday July 10, 2021. Funeral service, apparatus procession, and graveside service: Saturday July 10, 2021 10:00 am at the Roxana Church of the Nazarene Theater, located at 500 N. Central Ave; Roxana, IL 62084. Apparatus procession immediately following funeral services to Wanda Cemetery located at 915 Indiana Ave; South Roxana, IL 62087. Please provide the the type and amount of apparatus that will be brought for the funeral services.
