I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and enjoying time with your family and friends. Even though many of our local and regional committees and groups take off a month or two in the summer, there is still plenty of activity happening with the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association. Some of the things being worked on are the Convention from October 11-14, Illinois State Fair Day August 23, Fire Rescue International in Kansas City August 11-14, and our 75th Anniversary celebration August 15. Hopefully you were able to attend the Illinois Fire Chiefs Educational and Research Foundation golf outing in July and supported their efforts to raise funds that support their scholarship program. Please consider creating and funding a scholarship that honors a firefighter, paramedic, family, or organization.
As we start to move forward towards our convention and election of new officers, consider stepping into positions, in particularly the Area Representative position. Becoming an Area Representative creates a great opportunity to collaborate with your piers at a higher level. And if an IFCA Board position is not of interest, consider looking at our committees, assessment and consulting, or the Foundation. Everybody could always use a helping hand. Thank you for considering and enjoy the rest of your summer.
Be Safe,
Brian Lambel, IFCA President
