The Spring Grove Fire Protection District seeks a FIRE CHIEF, to replace the current Chief who is retiring in 2019. The Chief coordinates the operation of the District’s Fire and EMS Departments and oversees the business side of the operation. The qualified candidate will have at least ten (10) years Fire/EMS experience with at least seven (7) in a progressive supervisory role. They will have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, OR, a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (preferred), ideally in Fire Science, EMS, Public Administration, or Business. They must have, at a minimum, Firefighter II (or Basic), Fire Officer II (or Advanced) certification, and EMT-B licensure. Other requirements may be found in the Position Description. The Chief will be expected to work a minimum of thirty-two (32) hours per week. The annual salary range of $75-$105K will be based on education, experience and discussions with the Board of Trustees. Benefits, including health insurance and vacation are available. The successful candidate must reside, within six (6) months of hire, in Illinois, within two (2) miles of the District boundaries (map available on request).
