Cary Fire Chief

The Cary Fire Protection District is seeking applications for the position of full-time Fire Chief effective on January 1, 2019.

The District protects an 18 square mile territory with 6 paid full-time members, 2 clerical positions, and about 60 part-time/POC members. Candidates for the position of Fire Chief must have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in the fire service, 5 years’ experience as a chief officer, and good moral character. Previous experience as a chief officer in a combination full-time/part-time fire department is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates possessing Illinois OSFM Fire Officer certifications and/or educational degrees in fire service management or a related field. Candidates for hire may be required to interview with the Board of Trustees of the District and demonstrate their oral and written ability for the position. The new chief will be required to reside within the boundaries of the District within one year of hire. The salary to be paid will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience, and the District provides participation in its Article 4 pension fund and an excellent benefits package.
