Description: Fire Chief The Village of Lombard, a western suburb of Chicago with a population 43,894, is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Fire Chief. The salary range is $97,727 to $136,818; final salary and benefits negotiable depending on qualifications. This position reports to the Village Manager as an at will employee. The selected candidate will administer, manage, direct, and supervise all fire department operations and programs with a $10.1 million budget, which consists of two fire stations and a staff of 68 employees. This position will respond to emergency situations and direct fire and rescue operations at scenes; Coordinate Emergency Preparedness activities for large-scale emergency response; Investigate the causes of fires and submit reports as required; Interpret and administer firefighter collective bargaining agreement and personnel manual; Enforce Village fire protection Codes; Act as a liaison between the Village and citizens; and perform other functions as assigned or as required. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and ability in all principles and practices of fire department operations and administration theory and techniques; and be able to perform the physical requirements such as climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects and materials up to 20 pounds. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required. Willingness to embrace a high performance organization is required. Minimum qualifications required: Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science Management, master’s degree preferred, with seven to nine years of progressively responsible experience in firefighting, fire rescue, fire prevention and education, with three to five years of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job. Description: NOTICE OF TEST ADMINISTRATION Entry-Level Firefighter/Paramedic Candidate Applicants Lake Zurich Fire Rescue, 321 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, Illinois 60047 Applicants must meet the following requirements: • Minimum age of 21 yrs. and not older than age 35 yrs. at time of application, unless previous firefighter experience meeting statutory exceptions of 70 ILCS 705-16.06; • U.S. Citizen at time of filing formal application or must meet requirements of Illinois Human Rights Act for citizenship status; • Must have a valid Drivers License, which must be shown as ID at all phases of testing; • Must have a minimum of high school diploma or GED certificate; • Must have the ability to understand the English language, written and spoken; • Must be a licensed EMT-P through the Illinois Department of Public Health at time of application, and be able to gain approval to function in the Northwest Community Hospital EMS System; • Must be certified as a Firefighter II in the State of Illinois at time of application; • Must have valid CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) care required with application. Successful completion of the CPAT conducted by a licensed agency within 12 months prior to the application due date (August 13, 2010) is required. • Minimum far visual acuity: 20/30 binocular each eye (corrected), 20/100 uncorrected unless corrected with soft contact lenses (successful long-term use), free from color blindness; • Must be of sound mental and physical health and meet all requirements of the Board of Fire & Police Commissioners of the Village of Lake Zurich (Rules & Regulations available at www.lzfirerescue.org; • Must be able to pass a written test, medical examination and drug testing, background and security investigation, psychological assessment, and oral interview. • Shift work is typically 24 hours on, 48 hours off, 0700 to 0700; as scheduled without regard for holidays.
