Purpose

To provide a forum in which the Fire Chiefs of Illinois may discuss matters of mutual interest. To provide these chiefs with a channel for concerted action for their continuing efforts to improve the efficiency and to elevate the status of the fire service. To furnish them, aid in their efforts, to promote more effective fire prevention and suppression, and disaster preparedness through education, legislative and technical means.

Statewide Representation

The Association represents its members in many ways. One of the areas is legislative.  Our Association belongs to the Illinois Fire Services Association. Through our Association and the Illinois Fire Services Association, we support legislation beneficial to the Illinois Fire Service and oppose legislation we feel will not benefit the Illinois Fire Service.

Throughout the year, our Executive Board and various committees represent the members of our Association in many areas. Our Executive Officer is always available to help our members by furnishing them information, as are our Officers and Area Representatives.

Who Are Members?

The Illinois Fire Chiefs Association is composed of Fire Chiefs and Officers from municipal fire departments, fire protection districts, industrial fire departments, governmental fire departments, both volunteer, paid, and combination departments, Associate members, large and small, new and old. Every category of fire department from every section of the State is represented. The President of the Association have been both volunteer and paid Fire Chiefs.

Membership

Membership is open to all Illinois Fire Chiefs and Fire Department/District Officers.  Associate Memberships are available to all who have an interest in the Fire Service or who wish to assist the Association in their efforts to improve Fire Safety and Fire Education.
